MICRO4ASIA Partners Gather Online for the Second Annual Project Meeting
14–15 September 2026 | Online
The partners of the MICRO4ASIA – Strengthening the international dimension of universities in South-East Asia through the development of micro-credentials and their recognition project gathered online on 14 and 15 September 2026 for the Second Annual Project Meeting.
The two-day meeting represented an important opportunity for the consortium to review the progress achieved so far, discuss challenges and lessons learned, and coordinate the activities to be carried out during the next phase of project implementation. The agenda covered all major areas of MICRO4ASIA, from project management and capacity building to the development and recognition of micro-credentials, quality assurance, dissemination and sustainability.
The first day opened with an overview of the project’s overall progress, including achievements, challenges, key performance indicators, management and coordination matters, and the planning of activities through the end of the project. Partners also reviewed the installation and use of equipment at the participating institutions in Vietnam and Laos.

A central part of the discussion focused on capacity building and the development and testing of micro-credentials. Partners reflected on the training and mobility activities carried out and shared feedback and lessons learned. The Asian partner institutions also presented the progress of their micro-credential courses, including their topics, delivery methods, use of equipment, stakeholder involvement, implementation challenges and plans for delivery and testing. The project foresees the delivery of micro-credential courses to at least 500 students, followed by the collection of student feedback and the validation and fine-tuning of the courses.

On the second day, attention turned to the Common Recognition Mechanism (CRM) developed within MICRO4ASIA. Partners discussed its main features, use and benefits, as well as its alignment with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) and relevant European Higher Education Area guidelines and procedures. The next steps will include the internal and external validation of the mechanism.

The consortium also coordinated the upcoming operational missions in Vietnam and Laos, discussing travel plans, agendas, stakeholder involvement and reporting requirements. These activities will provide further opportunities to engage with local stakeholders and support the implementation and impact of MICRO4ASIA in the partner countries.
The meeting concluded with dedicated sessions on quality assurance and risk management, as well as dissemination and sustainability. Partners reviewed feedback collected through the project’s quality assurance mechanisms, performance against project KPIs, communication activities and the priorities for outreach and sustainability during the next phase.
The Second Annual Project Meeting therefore provided an important moment for the consortium to take stock of progress and align partners around the next steps. With micro-credential courses moving forward, the Common Recognition Mechanism entering its validation phase and operational missions being prepared, MICRO4ASIA continues its work to strengthen higher education cooperation and support the development and recognition of micro-credentials in Vietnam and Laos.
