IHF hosts the Closing Meeting and Award Ceremony of the Erasmus+ project Scouts4GreenApp in Brussels

IHF is glad to announce the successful organisation of the final meeting and Award Ceremony of the Erasmus+ project Scouts4GreenApp, held in Brussels on 15–16 October 2025.

The two-day event marked the culmination of three years of international cooperation to promote sustainability and green competences in vocational education and training (VET). As the Belgian partner of the consortium, IHF had the pleasure to host partners and participants in Brussels and to coordinate the organisation of both the closing meeting and the Award Ceremony activities under Work Package 5: the EU SDG Challenge Award “Scout for Green Apprenticeship.”

A European celebration of green apprenticeships

Partners from across Europe — including Germany, Portugal, Austria, Slovenia, Finland, and Belgium — travelled to Brussels together with the national winners of the SDG Challenge, selected in previous months through local competitions. Each national challenge invited VET learners to design and present innovative projects inspired by their work-based learning experiences, addressing ecological, economic, and social sustainability within their host companies.

In Brussels, these young learners took part in a European pitch competition, presenting their sustainable ideas before an international audience. Their proposals reflected the diversity of their training paths and demonstrated how creativity and awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can drive change in workplaces and communities. From energy-saving and waste-reduction projects to circular economy initiatives and green services, their ideas showcased how VET learners can become true “Scouts for Green Apprenticeship.”

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the three best projects were awarded with prize money in recognition of their outstanding contribution to sustainability in VET. A digital brochure collecting all project ideas will soon be published on the Scouts4GreenApp website, offering an inspiring overview of Europe’s emerging green talents.

Discovering Europe and its institutions

IHF coordinated a programme of cultural and educational visits to complement the Award Ceremony.

The first day began with a visit to the European Parliament, where participants explored the places and mechanisms through which European policies — and many aspects of citizens’ daily lives — take shape. The afternoon was dedicated to the Award Ceremony, a key highlight of the project that celebrated creativity, cooperation, and European citizenship.

The second day continued with educational visits across the European Quarter. Participants explored Experience Europe, an interactive exhibition using games and multimedia to explain the functioning of EU institutions, followed by visits to the House of Europe to trace the history of the continent and the Parlamentarium. These experiences offered participants a broader and more engaging perspective on Europe’s history, diversity, and democratic values — a fitting conclusion to a project devoted to skills, sustainability, and European awareness.

The partners’ final meeting

In parallel, IHF hosted the final project meeting at its premises in Brussels. Partners reflected on the project’s main achievements — from the White Paper on Sustainable Development in VET to the creation of a European curriculum, a digital learning app, and the EU SDG Challenge Award. The discussion was constructive and collaborative, allowing partners to assess the Brussels event, evaluate its impact on participants, and review project results, identifying both successful practices and areas for future improvement.

The meeting concluded with a shared sense of satisfaction and cooperation. Scouts4GreenApp has managed to develop practical tools to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals into vocational training and to inspire a new generation of green-skilled professionals across Europe.
