From Plans to Practice: CREATE Partners Meet in Tanzania to Shape a More Resilient Agricultural Future
First international mobility hosted by NACTVET brings European and Tanzanian partners together to connect, learn and understand local realities on the ground
The CREATE partnership reached an important milestone with the successful implementation of its first international mobility and transnational project meeting in Tanzania, hosted by the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET).
While the project had already established a strong foundation through online collaboration, the meeting marked the first opportunity for all consortium partners to come together in person, strengthening relationships, building trust and creating a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Tanzania’s agricultural education and training ecosystem.
Representatives from Spain, Italy, Belgium and Tanzania gathered to review project progress, discuss upcoming activities and align their efforts towards the common objective of strengthening climate resilience through Agricultural Vocational Education and Training (VET).
Beyond the formal project discussions, the mobility offered participants a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the realities of the Tanzanian agricultural sector and better understand the context in which CREATE will operate over the coming years.
A particularly valuable component of the visit was the programme of field visits and stakeholder engagement activities organised by NACTVET. Consortium members visited agricultural training institutions and rural VET providers, allowing them to observe first-hand the learning environments, infrastructure, teaching approaches and operational challenges experienced by local institutions.
These visits provided invaluable insights into the realities faced by educators, learners and rural communities. Partners were able to engage directly with teachers, school managers, agricultural practitioners and local stakeholders, fostering meaningful dialogue on skills needs, labour market demands, climate-related challenges and opportunities for innovation within the sector.
The experience highlighted both the strengths and the challenges of agricultural education in rural Tanzania. It also reinforced the importance of developing training solutions that are locally relevant, responsive to labour market needs and capable of supporting sustainable agricultural development in the face of climate change.
For many participants, the mobility represented much more than a project meeting. It was an opportunity to witness the realities behind the data, understand the communities that will benefit from the project and strengthen the collaborative spirit that underpins CREATE.
The insights gathered during the visit will directly inform the next phases of project implementation, including needs analysis activities, capacity-building actions, curriculum development and the design of innovative tools and resources for agricultural VET providers.
As CREATE continues its journey, the consortium remains committed to fostering strong partnerships between European and Tanzanian organisations, ensuring that solutions are developed collaboratively and grounded in the real needs of local communities.
