Entrepreneurial Capacity-building for Sport: the ENDURANCE proposal has been approved!

On August 2020, the Slovenská akademická asociácia pre medzinárodnú spoluprácu (Erasmus+ National Agency in Slovakia) communicated the approval of the ENDURANCE – Entrepreneurial Capacity-building for Sport proposal, under the KA2 Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices – Strategic Partnerships for vocational education and training.

Links between sports & entrepreneurship are manifold, yet seldom recognized and rarely capitalized upon. The two are rarely found together in VET as effectively connected domains with synergic links: hence the need for much-needed entrepreneurial competences due to low EE in sports-oriented disciplines and lack of tailored entrepreneurship training.

ENDURANCE “rethinks” the teaching and learning of entrepreneurship based on the complementarities and commonalities between sport and entrepreneurship, such as determination, perseverance, self-confidence, stamina, respect of rules, team play, self-reliance, competition, success/failure, etc.

ENDURANCE’s objective is to reignite entrepreneurial spirit and modernize the way entrepreneurship is tackled in VET and to:

  • Map dynamics of sports and entrepreneurship, common traits and links for sustainable careers for learners in VET and sport systems
  • Develop ENDURANCE entrepreneurship custom-made training and tools
  • Establish online interactive OER platform for ENDURANCE training (virtual and blended-learning)
  • Sustain results and promote their uptake in VET and sport ecosystems
  • Advance the entrepreneurship discourse at policy level with the ENDURANCE Green Paper

ENDURANCE will be co-funded by the Erasmus Plus Programme of the European Commission and will last 24 months between 2020/22. The project has been submitted and will be implemented by a partnership of eight organisations from seven European countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Italy, Slovakia and Spain).

In the project, IHF will provide technical, operational and management contributions, being involved in all activities and “stages” of implementation to contribute to the production of deliverables and outputs. Moreover, IHF will be proactively involved in securing the engagement of target groups and stakeholders in project activities throughout the most relevant stages of analysis, development and deployment and piloting.

IHF will establish an operational connection between the ENDURANCE project and European policy and practice, also greatly contributing to its mainstreaming at European level. In particular, IHF ensures the “European Dimension” of the project as it carries out all the technical tasks from a “European Perspective”, i.e. carrying out analysis of relevant EU policies, trends and initiatives; extrapolating EU relevant case studies, lessons learned and best-practices.
