AEERR Project: end of Mobility to Faroe Islands

September 8th, 2017

Two IHF members took part to the mobility to Faroe Islands in the framework of “Remote Regions in Adult Education: a resource for Europe” (AEERR), a Project co-financed by the European Commission within the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 1, Learning Mobility of Individuals.

The mobility started on August 28th and ended on September 1st 2017.

The participating staff visited two hosting partners in Torshavn: GreenGate Incoming and University of Faroe Islands.

At the International Centre of University of Faroe Islands our staff had interesting discussions on the educational role of the University also as a trigger for internationalisation of the entire Region and the relations between University of Faroe and the international community and the European Union.

GreenGate Incoming is a private company. Green Gate is the leading touristic company for incoming visitors to the Faroe Islands. It is also a provider of informal adult education, as all tours and excursions include specific briefing sessions on the culture, history, nature and -most relevant- pristine eco-systems of the Islands. IHF members explored how the issues of AEERR (Adult education in remote regions, problems and opportunities) are addressed and dealt with in a private company, which has a different mission and different objectives compared to publicly funded institutions.
